Ok, I am sure this question has been asked a 1000 times (I’ve tried searching but couldn’t find anything). I was wondering what type of ¼ mile times would my truck run? I have no intentions of running it, just curious.
My truck: 99 ecsb 4x4, 4r100, late 99 motor, early 99 suspension, PHP FU chip, 4” exhaust, Airaid intake, AIH delete, 05 front end, 265/75/16 tires, wicked wheel, deleted pedestal, ebpv delete, 93K, HPX, 3.73 Assume running it on the race tune |

A stock-tuned regular cab with a standard launch should be in the 76 MPH range at the 1/4.
A crewcab shortbox would be in the 73 MPH area. A supercab would be somewhere in the middle. Your truck should be in the 83-85 MPH range. ET depends on traction off the line in that case. |

It seems with my truck (not sure if the description is correct, added wicked wheel, PHP custom tunes, and 6637 filter) a boosted launch isn't as quick as punching it off the line. With a boosted launch, it seems like it takes longer/higher rpms to change gears. When punching it off the line, the gears just fall through nice and smooth. I can build about 10psi on a boosted launch before breaking traction.

my wife went 15.9 at 82 mph in our truck. track elv 500 ft 80^ day. This was 8 yrs ago. She would powerbrake into boost and launch in 4wd then switch to 2wd. I told her after 3 passes....that be enuff or we wont be able to tow our low 12 sec mustang home(could drive it but no AC and cruz control for 1100 mi is a pain lol)

How safe is it to start off in 4x4 then switch to 2x4? Seems like that would be hell on the transfer case cuz everything is still turning with the hubs locked.

The truck will not come out of 4x4 for the entire length of the track. With a torque load on the transfer case, the shift motor will not be able to "suck" the front drive shift collar back. It's a huge waste of time (not to mention attention) to waste on something that's not doing anything anyway. A manual-shift transfer case MAY have a chance, but good luck wrenching on the lever hard enough to get it pulled out of 4wd with power applied. |
