Default Coolant filter

How important is a coolant filter on the 6.0? With the price of repairs on these trucks, is it worth it or throwing $$$$ away?

It's most important. EGR and oil cooler WILL plug without one, given enough time. Sand leaching is a big problem on the 6.0L. There's loads of info about it on other specific forums, hours and hours of reading and all the same conclusions.

I put a Cheap-O coolant filter on mine. I think the others are over engineered. Yet I think I went a little over with mine too. If doing over I would have used the "Help" Tee in my pictures and just 3/8" Fuel line hose. Less than $35 in parts. Use a Ford Fuel Filter from the 1988 Mustang.

Here is a link to all the pictures of my install.

We also have these kits.

It is more than the one above, but I feel it's worth the money. The expensive part is the stainless filter bracket.
