Yes, Bill can program a blank FICM. He's done quite a few for me. Once he ships it back to you, you can install it and go...no need for the ford dealer.

FICM information

Just got my truck 06 F250 6.0L and looking to start some upgrades. I tow a 35ft fifth wheel no problem but just looking to get the most out of the truck, which way should I go ficm tuning to start with or the Gryphon programer.
If it's the FICM tuning where do I get another one to send out to PHP.

On most 6.0L trucks, the FICM helps with fuel economy and off-idle response while the programmer helps with overall performance. If you are staging your modifications, you'll need to decide which is more important up front... economy or performance.

The only problem with getting a salvage FICM unit is that you have no idea of the condition of the unit and with all the Inductive Heating strategies out there killing FICMs, it's possible that any unit you get may be on its last legs. Sadly, new units are $800 which makes it sort of cost prohibitive for most folks.

It's a tough call. Many salvage yards do NOT offer any sort of warranty on electronic components (ECMs, FICMs, etc.) so if you get it and it's bad, then you're out of luck.

Good luck.

Default inductive heat

Bill: I have reading about a lot of FICM failures lately and it may be the inductive heat flash that is the culprit. My dealer flashed my truck after they said that they wouldn't. I had told them that I didn't want the inductive heat and they assured me that they wouldn't flash it. They lied. They flashed it anyway and didn't tell me about it. I felt the difference as soon as I left the dealership. Not good.
All this to work up to this question. Can/would you do the FICM reflash without the inductive heat flash? I was OK with the buzz flash that I had when I took it to the dealer for a turbo. I have a spare FICM that I had you reflash and just got it in the truck friday. I had a short test drive and it feels good. I am just concerned about that inductive heat flash affecting the life of the module. I live in Florida so the heat flash is not really needed here. Have you considered offering your flash without the inductive strategy.

I don't believe Bill is using any Inductive Heating strategies in his FICM programs, I know the ones I have don't have it.

Jeremy: Perhaps I misunderstood this post on this site to interpret that the heat strategy was in the PHP flash. See a copy of that post below.

Very little, aside from improved cold starting. Since the calibration we use is a early/late hybrid, the benefit from the IH strategy is helpful for those cold mornings.

Ah, well He told me I don't have it in mine, but perhaps you can get it, if needed with his hybrid programs.
