Can you get a Gryphon for a 1996 7.3L. Or, more importantly, can the Edge Evolution handheld that my Dad has for his '96 7.3L be retuned like my Evo for the 6.0L can?
If so, how is it done, and what does it cost.
Dad loves his truck but there are some things about it, especially when towing or hauling, that just bug the **** out of him, and if we could do some custom tuning for him it might be really nice.

Yes you can do a Gryphon on the 7.3 though I would say the Phoenix or the FU chip option is the way to go.. also post specifics on what the things are that bugs your dad when towing etc... then we can better advise you what to go with and if standard or custom tunes will work best... not sure about Gryphon but with the Phoenix the "standard tunes" already have trans mods to them. Also if you do a lot of towing consider the Transgo standard or Tugger kit for the Transmission

The dash-mounted Gryphon does NOT work on a 94-97. There have been incidences of communications issues and support for those vehicles was removed.
The Game-Boy style Evo can be upgraded with new calibrations. Cost is $60.00 per level.
Honestly, most 7.3L folks (especially OBS) go for the Phoenix chips. They are a bit more flexible being able to shift on the fly and work really well.
Hope this helps.

Thanks for the reply. It does help. Next time Dad starts complaining about his truck not shifting when he wants it, I'll start talking to him about getting the phoenix or upgrading his edge and getting some custom tunes.
