I just recieved my gryphon yesterday and hooked it up. I tried loading the 93 performance tune. It went through some steps then at the end it said checksum failed and had my hex code. After this the truck would not start.I unplugged it and it started and ran fine. I tried all three tunes with the same results. Any ideas? Am I doing something wrong?

Did you update it on pegasus before it went in the truck?
Or did you plug it in right out of the box?

Key on in run position but motor not running.

I'll see if the mad doctor or groovy chick can help. Maybe Jack knows something about this.

Plugged it in straight out of the box. I'll try to update it and try it again.

turned key on set it to 93 performance key off key on started to load. check sum failure tried to start and nothing message poped up on odometer CHECK GUAGES

I pm'd Jack and Bill already. Just wanted to see if anyone else had this problem and knew how to fix it.

Well it should be updated if you just bought this...unless it was used. Because I am pretty sure they said they update them with the latest firmware before shipping out.

Now to the part in bold....did you make sure to turn your key to the on position(without truck running) before you plugged the gryphon up to the cable?...And I found that the check gauges happens everytime I go to program my truck especially if it has done been cranked...something about the programming overiding the sensors at the time?? I think that was the explanation.

Yes the key was in the on position without truck running. The first time I tried it the truck had been sitting for about 9 hours. Also tried right after driving with same results.

Tell you what. Run the truck for 5-10 minutes with nothing on(no lights or accessories). Wait 5 minutes. Try going through the steps again. You might be having a voltage issue. Even try it with the door closed.

Hope this helps.

Yipes! I'd forgotten all about that, JWB! GOOD CATCH! I've included this in my new file of "fixes" - maybe eventually, I'll get my act together.

I've been PM'ing Bill about this problem, so, hopefully, when he has a moment, he'll be able to help the Sailor.

Hi there. I have the same problem you might want to read my postings on this. Currently Bill has my computer and harness and hes pretty sure its a bad harness from his supplier. I was ahving all the same issues and eventualy it lead to the Checksum File failures.

I had to mail the unit and harness back to Bill and hes replacing it all.

Bump. Still getting checksum failure.

Yesterday, one of us posted a note that PHP was closed due to a "medical emergency" so I doubt you're going to hear anything until that is resolved. We all have our fingers crossed. Notice what mmandley posted just below you. It's possible you may have the same problem. Hope not, but there's no way for us mere mortals to tell.
