Hello Everyone,
I just bought a 1999 XLT 4.6 Auto 4x2 with 50K on the clock. I've had it about a month now. I joined F150 and F150online and learned about the Evo and Gryphon. I just ordered a Gryphon today and am looking forward to getting it and some tunes to see what this is all about. I'm thinking of a 87 towing, 87 performance, and maybe another 87 towing optimized for higher altitude because I occasionally tow in NC at around 3000 ft. But the trailer is only about 1500# so maybe I don't need anything special. I doubt I'll run 91 or higher octane, I'm mostly interested in improving mileage and performance while towing my light trailer.
not you

Hi and welcome to the forum. :howdy: This is the place to ask questions - you won't get put downs for answers.
In your case, I'd really get only two tunes (that's what I have by the way). You want an 87 octane tune optimized for your driving (city, highway, combination?) when you're not pulling a trailer. And, I suspect Bill can make minor adjustments to that tune that will give you an 87 octane towing tune.
Your tow requirements are actually pretty minimal. You could tow safely with just the 87 performance tune. A tow tune is really only needed once you get past the 2500# trailer weight point. Still, if you are towing for some distance, you might get slightly better performance with a tune set up especially for that situation. You do not need a "higher altitude" tune at all.
You need to talk to Bill. He may advise against a tow tune completely. PHP is not in the business of selling you things you don't need.

I put a note with my order form. Hopefully Bill or Corey will e-mail me or give me a call. I went ahead and ordered three tunes, but I guess they'll let me cancel if I don't need them. I'm sure Bill could reccomend the right thing after talking to me for a while and asking a few questions.
Thanks,
Al
