I was all set to order a tuner a long time ago, talked with Bill over the phone and everything. He explained some stuff and recommended what custom tune to get. I was only looking to get one custom tune, and use the other two canned tunes. Well, I forgot which one I was gonna get. Then I couldn't get through to PHP. I kinda put it off for a little bit, tried to let business calm down for them, then BAM, no more 97-03 tuners. Well, now that they are back, I'm gonna get one. Just need help finding out which custom one I was suppose to get.
My info: My truck is an 02 F150, 5.4. 4x4. Torsions cranked, 285's, Gotts intake, and glasspack dumped right before rear axle.
I'm not looking for racecar performance, not looking for a special tow tune. Just looking for an all around better running tune. One thats helps with gas, and performance, and just makes the truck run better. I will be using 87 octane. For the life of me, I just can't remember what tune he told me to get. I'm pretty sure he said keep the canned 87 tranny tune, and use it for towing. But thats about all I can remember. Anyone from PHP, or any forum members have any advice. I'm eager to order, so any help is much appreciated. Thanks.

It doesn't make sense to me that Bill would tell you to keep the tranny only tune and use it for towing. He might chime in here though and tell me I'm all wrong (won't be the first time)!

I'd replace the Level 1 tranny only tune with a custom 87 octane tune for the kind of driving you normally do. Is it city, highway or a combination? I'd guess you want good passing performance along with the reasonable mileage.

I'd keep the Canned tow tune in case you ever DO tow anything in the 2000#+ range and I'd keep the canned 93 octane tune. Sounds like you'll never use that one, just like me.

Since the tranny tune does nothing to your engine, I'd replace it.

Yea, I could be completely wrong on that.

Just saw your question. My driving is mostly city, buy I do my fair share of hwy as well.

As I said, I could be all wrong on this.

With any luck though, Bill is taking Corey out for a romantic dinner since it's her birthday and we won't hear from either of them (I hope) until sometime later tomorrow. :giggle:

If I order tonight, and put down the 87 performance, can I change it tomorrow if I find out it was something else? Wanna try and catch the sale.

You can certainly change it any time up to the point that I actually build the files.

If you're pulling less than about 3000 Lbs., the 87 Performance would be ideal for a daily driver and you can replace the Trans Only tune with the current 87 Tow for the heavier stuff.

Don't worry... Just get your order in and we'll make sure you're taken care of on the price. Please make sure to put your information in the Forum Control Panel so know who you are and we can make sure to get you covered.

Order is in. When would be the best time to call to figure out the correct tunes. I put down 2 custom. Also, how do I figure out the total with the sale? Just subtract the 40 in my head, or is there gonna be a bill?

Just figure out the total and then knock $40.00 off. Corey can get a total for you. Just check with her after 12:00. As for the tunes, again, after 12:00 is when we're open so give us a shout then.

Take care.
