:notallthere:Just curious i own one of the airade throttle body spacers for my truck and took it off thinking it was causing my truck to studder at idle, little did i know it was my iac valve. I never put it back on just because i never saw a difference with it, I was curious with a custom tune will it work then? thanks:cheesy smile:

It will work, but it will not improve your performance. Those things were designed back in the days of carburated engines, and they were said to provide modest gains then, but now with fuel injection, they basically do nothing.

You can use it as a doorstop or a desk decoration though.

Haha one question while waiting on custom tunes is it safe to run the perf tune with a cai on a 2002?

As far as I know, it is. I think only the 2004-2005 3V 5.4L engines have the "lean" problem.

You want to talk shame? Back in the 70s, I bought one of those "fuel atomizer" thingies that you spliced into the gas line. It kind of had the same "do nothing" (but lighten my wallet) results! :o

After many months after taking out my throttle body spacer i believe i may have been wrong. My gas mileage used to sit around 18 with the spacer now i am only getting 16 =( or could it just be something else could be causing problems?

Winter weather and fuel blend?

Who the heck knows? I can't really see how a spacer would do ANYTHING in a fuel injected vehicle. I suppose my next step would be to reinstall it to see if your mileage went up again. And if it did, maybe we ALL ought to get one!

If so - we're going to catch hell at F150online ;) trying to convince everyone to put one on...

You post it up first. :evillol:

Jack, when you got suckered into a fuel atomizer, did they ever say how it works? I looked up a few sites that sell them but they never say how they work in theory.(that is my first red flag because it means I'm supposed to just take their word for it.) I know that the current products are pretty much a scam(even if the mileage results can be verified but that is another scam in itself) but even I have accomplished things off of impossible failures.
Haha dont get me started on the guys at Best Buy...:hehe:

Another scam was the moth ball one.
That also was to help your mpg's.
Dump a few in your tank and your off to save yourself some $$$$!!!!

In answer to your question Longshot (and remember this was way back in the 70's - before many of you were born), the atomizer broke the fuel down into even "finer" droplets that would supposedly burn more efficiently!

I honestly don't know why I fell for that now that I've reached my "golden years". I certainly knew enough then to realize this was a totally bogus line of reasoning. I think I was just "young", and naive.

One thing that DID work though, was Mobil 1 oil. It added an honest 2mpg to my gas mileage! Of course it had a lower viscosity index than the 20W40 (or was it 20W50?) I was using before I tried it, and I'm certain that was the major reason, but it sure was a lot more expensive, more so then than now.

Well I guess that might work if you were running WAY rich. That would probably be a good idea on those little nitro cars and air planes because you have to run them rich anyway. :giggle:

How about those "energy cells" that was 3 magnets that clamped around the fuel line and "re-aligned the fuel molecules" as you drove.:smiley_roll1:

Those are "companions" to the magnet innersoles that were supposed to help tired feet or the magnetic pads you wore on your back to cure back pain and didn't they have wrist bands to help circulation? I wonder if you stuck a magnet in your hat if it might align your brain cells to make your thinking "far right", or turned the other way, "far left"? :giggle: I think some of our "leaders" have these installed, perhaps permanently.

I have to jump in and defend SOME of the magnet therapy bands Jack , as for vehicles, i know nothing about them, but I do know that my Q-Ray wrist braclet I could not live with out over the last 4 years, i don't take it off anymore. I was very sceptical when watching them on tv and all that , but then i started doing some research on them and the history of the application of magnetic force and the human body. And since i have treated my body like an amusement park with my MMA career over the past 18 yrs i figured it wouldn't hurt to try. To make a long story short after about 3 months of wearing it , i did notice better movement in my joints especially hands , so i took it off after wearing it for a year , and again in a couple short months , stiffness and morning fatigue set in. Put it back on and same amount of time , with no change to my life style habits i notice the gain of mobility back. So i do the defend ONLY the q-ray magnet braclets lol. The rest i have no idea about. Especially vehicles, but i know the big magnet in my tranny pan does its job as well

wayyyy off topic lol:giggle:

Dan is right. Last 15 or so years I've been wearing copper and magnets.

To bring it back on topic how about we magnatize a throttle body spacer and see if it aligns the air molecules. If not we can get another one, magnatize that one too and use them as monster magnetic bracelets to improve joint movement. Maybe the combination of magnetism and spiral cuts will cause an increase in blood flow and density! :hehe:

Sadly i sold it to a sucker on ebay hehe, I got my custom 93 tune a month after taking off the spacer also, so first i will go back to stock for awhile and run 87. I have also found another problem, often i find that my air filter has fallen off :notallthere: it is on very tight yet manages to come off. I'll have to wait and see. If nothing changes i might have to go back and find a used spacer to see if that really was the trick.

Now that is a great idea! You will make millions........maybe more because you know how it works:hehe:
