I run full synthetic Valvoline in all my gas stuff and Rotella Synthetic in the diesel.... If Walmart had Valvoline Synthetic in diesel grade and weight I would use that instead....

I run Delvac 1 (full synthetic), tried Delo (Chevron) and Motorcraft Synthetic but the Delvac 1 seems to idle and drive the best.

Currently running Quaker State Horse Power full synth. If I'm not using that, I normally run Castrol GTX.
My previous preference for my old Pontiac Sunbird was Rotella 15W40. Started good in the winter, and pulled out an incredible 36 mpg highway pounding on it during the summer.

Motorcraft in the Expy. Other than that, Valvoline or Mobil 1.

Amsoil exclusively. Go to amsoil website and check out their tests (done by and independent lab). They can also do an oil analysis that will give you a heads up of any engine problems before they become critical. Have been running amsoil in everything I own for 3 or 4 years. Not expensive at all if you use the extended drain intervals. They have oil and filters for everything you own. I became a believer when a guy introduced it to me to run in my jet ski. 2-stroke engines are very prone to engine damage from cheap oil. I disabled the oil injection so I could pre-mix my oil and run it much leaner, which made better throttle response and higher revs. In small two strokes they recommend 100:1 mix ratio. I have run that for three years in my string trimmer and my chain saw. Try that with any other oil!:hehe:

I have run Havoline through the years in Gas. Valvoline Max Life in my 88 Mustang. Been running Rotella Synthetic going to the Valvoline Extreme Blue Diesel on next change.

Did not know that Castrol was a BP product.

Camping World Dumps Castrol

Press Release 6-7-10

Camping World, America’s largest recreational vehicle retailer and RV maintenance and repair provider, announced today its decision to terminate a long-standing relationship with BP’s Castrol Oil, effective immediately.

This decision is based on BP’s oil release that has resulted in the catastrophe off the Gulf Coast, according to a news release.

“We at Camping World are saddened by the impact the disaster has had on the communities we serve,” said Marcus Lemonis, chairman and CEO of the Lincolnshire, Ill.-based retailer. “We consider BP’s behavior irresponsible and wish to sever our relationship. BP’s Castrol Oil will no longer be offered at any Camping World location nationwide.”

Camping World will deplete their remaining inventory of BP’s Castrol Oil products and donate the proceeds to helping in the disaster-relief efforts. The company is currently in discussions with several leading product providers to replace the significant category of their service and repair business. Camping World expects to name a replacement provider in the coming weeks.

I run the Delvac 15-40 dino changed @ 5k. Just put some snakeoil in it 2 or 3k miles ago (REV-X). Real impressed with the reduced noise & disappearance of any romps in any tune since. Never been a believer in oil additives but may be something to this stuff & the oil system on the 7.3.

All of my diesels have always gotten oil changes every 3000-3500 miles with Valvoline Premium Blue 15/40 in the warm season and Valvoline Premium Blue Extreme Synthetic 5/40 in the cold season.

The SUPERCAR gets Valvoline 5/30 every 3000 miles.

The SuperCar is a 91 Oldmobile Calais with 230K miles. Hey, it was a freebie 5 years ago.

This might be ok in string trimmers and chainsaws but I wouldn't recommend it in anything performance oriented for a couple reasons. For one because the oil displaces fuel running a leaner oil/fuel ratio will richen your air/fuel ratio. That's easily overcome by rejetting but because two strokes only run 1 or 2 piston rings they rely on some oil to form a good seal. Get too lean and you will lose compression.

Oh yeah, I've always run Valvoline in all my rigs. I've been interested in the Rotella since buying a diesel but haven't worked up the nerve to switch from my tried and true yet.

I believe I'm sold on the Valvoline Blue Syn 4w40
Started out with Devac 15w40 then went to the Valv 15w40 for one oil change before going to the syn.
