I don't think you want to use it on either of your two vehicles, Chuck. That stuff is hard on seals that weren't designed for it.

Nope it wont work in a diesel. In 95 it was mandated thtat the fuel system are to be ethanol compliant. The issue is how the computer system reads the ethanol compaired to gas. There is a kit out there to replace the O2 sensor and has a microprocessor that works with the ECM is supposed to do the adjusting just as if you ran normal gas.

My father in law has a Tahoe with the E85 engine. With E85 he gets about 10% worse mileage and has less power. Sounds like a winner! :doh: When the price is way less he will use it. Has not been like that for some time around here.

That's the big problem. Ethanol is another one of those "warm and fuzzy" scams that make people feel like they're doing "their part" in protecting the planet when they're only really creating other problems elsewhere when it drives up the operating costs of other industries (corn comes in handy for livestock feed).

A couple other prime examples of current "false economy" in the transportation world:

Hybrids (cost to manufacture as well as chemicals/processes for hazardous waste)
DPF on diesels (yeah, burn more fuel just so people don't see smoke...makes sense)

People who get wrapped up in protecting the planet never really see the big picture but seem to look for the atta-boys (smug) to justify their means.

The vehicle has to be rated for it.
Such as FFV.
Those systems use different rubber compound in their seals.
Parts such as o-rings are the most subseptable to damage if not rated for the E85.
The bigger the motor and vehicle the more it takes to run down the road.

The price is what I was looking at. Its about 40 cents cheaper at this place down the road. But I would have to run alot of fuel to pay for the conversion. I know of a couple guys running it in their turbo'd mustangs but they are built. I was also kinda wondering if it would smell like corn like bio smells like french fries.:hehe:

The EPA has admitted that the DPF was counterproductive, but was the best thing "at the time". Hopefully Urea injection will be the answer they are looking for, just no sure how well it will preform in sub-zero temps. Time will tell.

I like your avatar... Though cummins are great engines, just that they ended up in Fia....I mean Dodges... you can get a Cummins in the medium duty Ford truck line by the way....
Oh I read that Fiat is thinking of dropping the Dodge name on the trucks and just going with Ram Trucks....

Well they've already discontinued some of my favorites a while back, even though I do like some of the wranglers. I think they discontinued the commander.
