How many of you that have a chip have a modded IDM? Want to know your opinion of it.

I do, I dont have the full mod IDM but I did the Joe Servo mod to bump up voltage.
Cant say if I noticed much of a gain, but any mod I do anymore its hard to notice because of my lack of traction and room to do it in.
I think throttle response picked up a bit, but for a 5 dollar mod, why not do it?

DO IT!!
The worst part of having a Super Duty is the location of the IDM and getting it out.

Its a pretty easy mod if you have any soldiering experience.
Be sure to have two small soldiering irons or you will have a hard time getting at the resistor.

no soldiering irons. Tried it once. F'd everything up. I can weld...Heck, just boxed a 2002 front subframe last night...(house a six cylinder snapped that motor mount bracket right off)
Electrical and computers...I am ham fisted, all thumbs, two left hands...you pick the line.

Swamps is $275 for the whole deal....Thats a fair bit of cash.
Hmmm is it worth it? Im not made of money but i'll be damned if I start messing with circuitry...
I dont mind paying for a decent product....
And if I do do it, should I email Bill and Corey so they can adjust my Phoenix chip before they ship it?

I also posted this question on powerstroke.org... so you may see it twice:
soooo......
I saw that Beans has theirs for a hundred bucks:
Beans Diesel Performance - 7.3 Power Stroke IDM Modification (Powered by CubeCart) (http://beansdieselperformance.com/store/index.php?act=viewProd&productId=31)
and Swamps has theirs for $275... They say they have increased the "potency" of the IDM, by not only increasing the output voltage of the IDM, but by also increasing the frequency.
Whats the heck does that mean and is it worth the extra 175 bucks?

Here is a couple of adjustable options with the IDM, however it is much cheaper to do it your self with a non-adjustable version.

Did mine last week. Seems to be smoother and maybe quieter. And with the chip I am very pleased!:cheesy smile::cheesy smile::cheesy smile:

The missus ordered me a swamps one for our anniversary. Should be here next week. I am hoping that it helps with my bogging down issue.
