I'm probably about to buy a used Gryphon (converted Edge Evolution) monochrome programmer. The unit has been returned to "canned tunes". Does this mean they are the tunes from Edge and I will need to pay the $30 per tune to get the standard PHP tunes or are these the standard PHP tunes and if I want customized tunes I can just pay $30 per tune?

The "canned" tunes are PHP's version of Edge's canned tunes. They are slightly improved, according to Bill. I think though, that new custom tunes for that unit will be $60.00 each, not $30.00. The lower price only applies to tunes ordered at time of purchase for a unit purchased from PHP. (It's a benefit of buying "new" from PHP.)

While I can't speak to the Gryphon canned tunes, I wanted to clear up one thing that seems to be a common misconception (or maybe I've got it wrong). Custom tunes for a unit purchased directly from PHP are $30 for the life of the unit for the original owner. Units purchased from another vendor or second hand will be the $60 price.

Nope, $30 tunes are only if you order them with the programmer. It is cheaper to buy everything together in package, kinda like a combo meal at a fast food joint.

Not to get off topic of the OP, but I ordered mine separately and paid $30. I admit that they were ordered close together, but still two orders. I have a screen shot of the order form in my email, and I will try to post it later.

There is a grace period but I take it that you got a new programmer. If you post a screen shot, make sure you blot out any personal ID type info.

Well then it appears that there has been a change. I left a post for Corey to make sure on what is the most accurate information.

There's also a $50 surcharge if you bought the CS/CTS programmer from another vender....

But Corey should be the one quoting prices...
