I have been running my FU chip from PHP for about a week without any problems. I have been driving primarily the 100hp performance tune. This morning when I left for work, 1st to 2nd shifted way late. Right around 2800 rpms and then only when I would let up on the pedal. I was driving slow and not in a big rush. The rest of the gears shifted normal and then about 10 minutes later, the OD off light started flashing. I parked the truck at work and when I was driving home the same scenario. I stopped at home and let the truck sit for about an hour. Hopped in it again and switched to the 80DD. Put about 30 miles on the truck and everything was seeming normal. Just about home and then the same thing as this morning. 1st to 2nd hits really hard and the rest of the shifts are normal. I am going to pick up a VSS and throw that in and see if that helps. Oh, and I also stopped and pulled the chip out, no help there, nothing changed. Any insight you can give me would be greatly appreciated. :help:

Dont throw parts at it!

If you cannot borrow a scan tool to check what the code description is, pay someone to do it. It will save you money in the long run!

I had my truck scanned today. Codes p0603 internal control module ram error, p0783 3-4 shift error, p0781 1-2 shift error, p0732 gear 2 incorrect ratio. About 3 days before I started having tranny problems, my truck died pulling into the parking lot at work and wouldn't restart. I let it set until after work, when I got into my truck, I made sure my chip was firmly seated. I put the key in and it started right up. Is it possible I partially fried my pcm, or maybe it needs to be re-flashed? The shop said the tranny was junk. Yesterday I drained the fluid and dropped the pan expecting to see some shards or something. Nothing in there but some fines and the fluid was little burned. I don't know if I trust this shop or not. I think I will get a second opinion, what do you guys think? :censored1:

Not a PCM problem.

It's an internal transmission problem. Sounds to me like you experienced a 1-3 shift in your first post. That usually means a broken intermediate sprag....but they usually break and never work again. You won't find pieces in the pan from that failure.....unless you drive it for a few miles after the breakage.

I put about 50 miles on it before I dropped the pan. I also still have 2nd gear. The tranny holds in first, let up on pedal and it locks into 2nd. Shifts to 3rd and 4th are like butter. I guess I just have a hard time believing my tranny is trashed after a couple of weeks of driving after the chip was put in, I never even made any WOT runs with it. Guess its time for a rebuild. If I go with a BTS or something similar, do I then have to upgrade my FU chip to the FU2 or custom tunes?

These transmissions are like glass behind a stock engine. Some live, some don't.

my transmission had the same symptoms... i changed the fluid and filter and drove like that for a year and half before the forward clutch burnt up.

How is it doing these days?

recently my trans has been having problems going from 1st to 2nd and it will only shift if i take it to 2800 rpms roughly or let off n then i get a very hard shift. it ended up being the famous mechanical diode or something ford diagnosed it as secondary one way clutch blown. had cody write a tune to skip 2nd and all it well dont have money for a new trans
