Was wondering if anyone knew what needed to be done for an E4OD to 4R100 swap out? I picked up a used Ford reman 4R100 with 20,000 on it for cheap. Third gear is out on the E4OD.

Uhh alot, physically they may look the same but i believe the input shafts are different and certain things..your best bet is to call BTS(brians truck shop) he knows his way in and out of those things like the back of your hand.

Sweet thanks, I'll do that. I'll shoot him an email.

You can go from an E4OD to a 4R100. You just can't go the other way.

Not without some changes in the solenoid pack and pump, E4OD TC are non PWM.

Thanks, it does work. I put the transmission in my truck back on the 31st and so far put 713 miles on it. It did however throw a TCC slip fault one time. Cleared the fault and so far no other problems have come up. I tried to contact Bryans Truck Shop but they must have been busy because there was no call back or email response. I found a PFD document on the web listing the changes in the E4OD & 4R100 by year with pictures and part numbers. With that document, I was able to make the decision to install the transmission. I ended up having an older none PWM 4R100 so, the only thing I had to change was the linkage and the MPLS.:happy-dancing:

Good catch, Dave but it will go. The on/off solenoid of the OBS trucks isn't happy with PWM though.
It would be none much different than setting the TCC apply PWM to 100% across the board on a SD to put a 4R100 in a 95-97 truck.
