My axle code is 19 in my 08 screw 5.4l 4x4. If my searching is correct that means the rear end is a 9.75 non LSD with 3.55 gearing. If that is correct than my question is what are the pros and cons of this stock rear end? The reason I ask is that I was thinking of beefing up the differential with a locker. Is this wise, is there something better? I welcome all sugestions and comments. Thanks in advance.

If you're going to up the tire size regearing would be a perfect time when doing a locker......the stock ls hasn't really had any issues.....only with people forgetting that it needs friction modifier.......if you go with a locker that won't be needed anymore....

I'm not looking to changing my tire size or gearing. I probably should have mentioned in my original post but my truck is a 60th Anniversary Edition which came out with 20" wheels. Current setup is 275/55/20.

88racing, that was a good read but i'm still on the fence about it though. It sounds like lockers are what I'm looking for but the article didn't say anything about what happens when turning/cornering. It at least narrows down what I need to research. I hope someone reads this thread that has installed lockers on their truck and can give some first hand advise or some pros and cons they may have experienced.

I have them on my work trucks.....gm ones.......the only thing that I know about those is that I knew when was time to change the fluid.....it would chatter when turning corners.......
