Default in need of diagnostics

Just how good is the AE? I've had a few probs w/truck and could've used a tool like this one if the advertisement is correct.I had a prob w/the truck shutting down and was sure it was the tps, but, instead of trusting myself in what i knew it was i waited to long and it cost me a tow bill along w/the price of the new pedal assy.now as i was going somewhere today the truck died and i was left stranded.I am really stumped on the new prob as the truck wont start and the wait to start light and the check engine lights dont come on when you turn the key on.this is my work truck and it is used everyday,i need to get this truck diagnosed and fixed this week as need to get other maintenance done on other equipment during a shutdown period thisw week.thanks all.

AE is a great diagnostic tool to have, and can defiantly save you some $$ in the long run.

I am going to assume you have a SuperDuty with a 7.3, if so.......

I would check your fuses under the dash. There is a 30 amp fuse in the lower right corner that powers a couple things, and from the sound of it if that fuse is blown you probably have a fuel heater that is shorted out.

If this is the case then you can simply disconnect the fuel heater (connector on the back of the fuel filter housing), replace the fuse and keep on truckin.

Have you had the cam sensor replaced yet?

You might have two separate issues.

yep the cam sensor was replaced with in the last 60 days by a local dealership under warranty..... the tach needle does move after a few seconds of turning the motor over an I just checked the fuse no luck it is good. thanks for the tip I've moved the or swapped the idm and blower relays around to se if the idm was the problem it does'nt seem to be the problem rechecked the idiot lights I still DO NOT have the wait to start, check engine light coming on at all.the motor just cranks no start.
Here is another question if I order the AE STO6(proline) along with the ford bundle on monday the 15th do you think that Corey could get it here on tuesday with the appropriate $$ being paid for that service? I just bought a Laptop last month with every intention on getting the AE its just with $$ being tight I was going to wait another 30days but I really cant wait any longer, Im gonna have to get it now.

Problem is.....with no check engine light coming on chances are no scan tool or AE will be able to communicate with your PCM. It is possible that the CEL driver in the PCM is bad, or the bulb is out and you will still be able to communicate.........but not likely.

Take a peek at the ground connections in the driver side rear of the engine compartment. There will be one next to the master cylinder on the firewall, and another on the fender beside the fuse box. Both should be clean and tight.

Also spend a few minutes and check ALL of your fuses, inside the cab and in the engine bay. Using a test light probe BOTH of the metal pins sticking through the top of the fuses. Not all fuses will have power to them because they might be for headlights, turn signals, etc, and will not have power until the particular circuit is being used.

Without knowing the actual year of your pickup I cannot tell you exactly which fuses HAVE to have power to run your truck.

Almost forgot, do you have a chip in the truck?

If so have you tried disconnecting it?

Have chkd all fuses and power is present at all checked all gounds all grounds good still cannot figure out why no check engine light and no wait to start light.could my problem be the in the idm circuitry?I've tried to back track which component would illuminate the wait to start light and give fault with that one light , with no luck. My suspicion is the gem or the glow plug circuits
