Power Hungry Performance is proud to offer their latest breakthrough in custom tuning services: Custom LIVE!™ - Remote Custom Tuning. With this new service, no longer will you need to travel to get your vehicle custom tuned. Now the tuning comes to YOU! With our proprietary hardware and software bundle, you can now have quality, Live Custom Tuning at a substantial savings over traditional custom tuning methods. It's like having Bill sitting in the truck right next to you!

How does this work?

Actually, it's all pretty simple. Power Hungry Performance provides all the hardware necessary to effectively custom tune your vehicle.

Included in the standard tuning package:

• Laptop
• Memory Emulator
• PCM Adapter
• High Speed Datalogger (Up to 50 samples per second)
• Wireless Network Card
• Chip Burner or Reflash Device (Depending on application)

This is all the same equipment that we would use in a live tuning session. The only thing not provided is, of course, the dyno. The hardware setup is extremely simple so you can be up and tuning in a matter of minutes. Our PCM Adapter plugs into the same service port as a standard performance chip and our high speed datalogging equipment plugs directly into the OBD-II Diagnostics port. Two USB cables provide easy connection to the Laptop and before you know it, you're up and running.

What vehicles can we tune?

Currently, we are set up to live tune nearly any EEC-IV or EEC-V controlled Ford vehicle (up to 2003 on most applications) including:

• E and F Series vehicles with the 7.3L Power Stroke Diesel™ engine
• E and F Series with 4.2L, 4.6L, 5.0L (302), 5.4L, 5.8L (351), 7.5L (460) and 6.8L (V10) engines
• Lightning / Harley Davidson

• T-Bird / Cougar (Including Supercharged)

How much does live custom tuning cost?

This is undoubtedly one of the first questions that pops into everyone's mind when they ask about live custom tuning and we are going to be perfectly honest about our answer. Quality custom tuning isn't something that is going to be cheap. If this is your impression, you are going to be disappointed. Much like selecting a good mechanic, a good doctor, or even when buying a nice steak, you should expect to pay for quality. Often, enthusiasts will spend thousands of dollars on custom stereos and paint jobs, custom suspension and wheels, and even a custom built engine, but when it comes to tuning that attitude starts to change. Custom tuning always seems to be at the back of everyone's mind and after spending thousands of dollars building a vehicle, people will start looking for ways to cut costs and save some money. When you stop and think of how much it costs to replace an engine that has been damaged by poor quality or improper tuning, it doesn't take long to realize that bargain hunting for custom tuning isn't a good idea.

Quality tuning shouldn't be an afterthought to your quest for high performance, it should be a primary concern. It should be just as important as what cam you select, what injectors you run, or who does your machine work on your block and heads. One rule of thumb is that your tuning should cost you anywhere between 12% to 20% of your total engine build. If you build a $10,000 performance engine, you should expect to spend at least $1200 in custom tuning. There are cases where the vehicle being tuned is running a popular combination of modifications and the tuning is much less involved, and in these cases you can often spend a bit less. However, the tuning should be budgeted for and figured into the cost of the build just like any other components.

Power Hungry Performance currently offers tuning services at $125.00 per hour. All the equipment is available for rental at $150.00 per day ($1000.00 refundable deposit required) and includes all wireless network charges to accommodate remote tuning. You may also purchase any or all of the tuning equipment, including the software, if you should desire to use our tuning as a base and continue tuning on your own once we're finished. We do not cover dyno expenses and you must make arrangements for those services in advance.

Is Custom LIVE™ right for me?

If you're asking yourself this question, then you probably don't need live custom tuning. The fact is that most vehicles aren't modified enough to warrant live custom tuning and many modifications can be handled and tuned for quite easily by phone. For example, a 5.0L Mustang with an E-303 cam and GT-40 intake is a popular combination that is relatively easy to tune for and probably wouldn't require live custom tuning. Also, a 7.3L Power Stroke Diesel with a set of Stage 1 injectors and a GTP-38R turbo probably doesn't need live custom tuning either. But if you're looking to make 400, 500, 600 or more horsepower, then you really want to consider live custom tuning in order to protect your investment.

Yes, Jim, we've been going back and forth about the laptop, and we think it will be easier for the customer this way. We'll just be remotely accessing our own laptop, which should also save some time.

If you already own the software then we could probably do it either way. However, after thinking things over on the whole process, we decided it would probably be easier to just include everything needed including the laptop. This prevents me from having to worry about what OS the user is running, how stable the computer itself is, having to install (and subsequently uninstall) the necessary software, and ultimately eliminates any other minor issues that may arise.
