Caforddude is on a distinguished road
Default Replying to a thread.

I'm pretty seasoned on forums but i'll be damned if this one don't have me puzzled...

If I want to reply to a thread using the quick reply box, as is my normal custom, I have to first hit the post reply button or quote button to "activate" the reply box.

Am I missing a setting with this newer version of VBulletin or is this an admin setting that can be changed to allow just typing and posting in the box.

I know it seems trivial but it is to me.

Thanks

Hmmm maybe it is one of those days because I looked for the site feedback section for about 3 minutes and musta glossed over it 6 or 7 times before posting up here..Sorry

Aaron,

Having to hit the reply icon is an Admin controlled setting. The reason for it is to be able to follow a thread when using "Hybrid" or "Threaded" modes. This directly links each new post to the post you are directly responding to in order to help avoid confusion.

Of course, most people use "Linear" mode to view threads so this feature is pretty much useless for them, but we still do it to keep things straight for those that do.

It took me a little bit to get used to having it this way, but I don't even think about it now.

Take care.

It's not a big deal, Dan. I don't think anyone really uses the Threaded Mode anyway. Half the time I do the same thing.
