Exclamation supporting mods?

Planning on ordering my FU chip soon. (this week) and have done a lot of research. Just wanted to know, on most tunes the high HP levels are always followed by "with supporting mods". what mods would those be for the 120 & 140 HP tunes?
I don't really plan on using them, but would like to know what it takes if I ever would want them. my e99 only has a 15* hpop does it need a 17* or a slightly modded one? will the smaller injectors 130cc do it? what about the 140cc? are any of the other tunes actually limited because of these or other factors I'm forgetting? is there any advantage to getting a later model pcm? (other than the cruise light) thanks for everyone's help.

Vince,

"Supporting Mods" are usually simple things that ensure you are getting the most air in and out of the engine.

The 120 and 140 HP tunes are usually named what they are because they command more fuel (which typically only occurs at lower RPM than the <100 HP tunes). Actually getting an additional 120 or 140 HP is not really possible regardless of whether or not you have a 17 degree HPOP or AD injectors simply because of the air/fuel flow limitations of a stock 7.3L engine.

The main advantage to the newer PCM in your truck would have to do with the transmission shifting strategy. That's the reason most people swap PCMs in the E99 automatic trucks. The newer PCMs allow more preferred operational characteristics than the earlier PCMs do.

okay, thanks Cody
with getting an FU chip would it still be an advantage to getting a newer PCM or will the tuning overcome the pcm's shortcomings?

A lot of the shortcomings can be addressed in the programming, but there are certain things that cannot......

Such as the torque converter clutch releasing whenever you hit the brake pedal.

thanks for your quick replies Cody, I'm putting together a TQ lock up switch so I can over come that. Also after calling around no one near me has a pcm so I'll just order the chip as is. If I ever change pcm's I guess i'll spend the $50 later.
