Default Plowing

So, I have the FU chip in my 7.3 and its definately awesome!

However, I was thinking about this coming winter. I plow with my truck alot, and was wondering what tune you all think would be good to run plowing. I need power to push snow, but not so much that when I gas it, it spins the tires. Any recommendations?

Also, on a side note, I know blended high idle just became available, but has it always been available with the stock setting? ie if i set it to stock on a cold morning, will it idle up? If not, some prices for the new blended tunes would be awsome, dont really want to waste a spot for high idle.

Thanks

From what I have read set your truck to a towing tune for plowing, keeps the engine from stressing out too much and it has a little less power so it will help keep your tires from spinning too much.
and about the high idle, dont ask me lol, i dont have a clue. I would check the web site for prices because I think it would be a completely new tune... but its so new that they might just add it for free... but again I dont know. hope i helped

Depending on the year of your truck, you may already be able to notice an automatic high idle feature. All of the calibrations will maintain that feature depending on the box code you have.

Hey Cody, if I read that right if the truck would high-idle in the cold weather W/O the chip, then it will do the same w/chip in any of the pos. ?

As long as the base calibration we used on the chip was equipped with a cold-weather idle strategy. Your PMT1 will do it after about 2 minutes if it's cold enough.

Thanks Cody, I guess if I would have waited til it got cold I would have found this out but it's good to know. I was really stressed thinking I was going to have to remove chip & send to Bill to have it put on. If I could I would just weld that chip in there cause it ain't coming out as long as long as I driving it!

I'd go with a tow tune but if you have trouble with the tires spinning in drive, lock into first with an auto tranny. I think the throttle scale is warped on the low rpm end to make it easier to keep traction. I'm kinda guessing here because over here we dont usually get snow for more than a few hours...and when we do get frozen precipiation (like one week out of the year) it is black ice and sleet.
