Hello, I have a buddy of mine who has a chip already and was wondering if he can purchase the complete setup with out the chip? My chip works great by the way!!

1 - Would this be for the FU or the FU2? (I can't help but smile!)

2 - If your buddy is already one of our customers and has a chip for a stock truck or with mild mods, he can upgrade to the F.U. Package for the difference in cost.

3 - If your friend already has one of our custom tuned chips for a heavily modded truck, he can upgrade to the FU2 package for the difference.

If he isn't already one of our customers, I'm afraid the answer is

The "FU" or the "FU2" chip? Omygosh! And here I thought I was hooked up with a nice, "pure of soul", bunch. Instead, I find it's a den of "adults only, former flower children" that appeal to my "baser", dirty old man, side!

Well, everyone already knows about the F.U. and how it got its name. Some customers were contacting us and were disheartened because they couldn't get online updates as well.

That brought us to a new chip package -- a custom tuned Phoenix for customers with heavy mods and a chip burner -- so that they would never have to send their chips back to us for tweaking (it happens quite a bit on trucks with lots of heavy mods) or in the even that they get new mods and need new tunes. I've heard horror stories from some callers about how they've had to send their chips back 4, 5, 6 times! That gets mighty expensive -- not to mention that many of their trucks cannot be driven without the chip!

We were going with another name because it's not really Free Updates like the other; it's more like NHTSIBTU -- Never Have to Ship It Back To Us -- but that doesn't really roll off the tongue.

Then, having remembered that another company chose to trademark Phoenix Chip after we released our Phoenix, we realized that it wouldn't be beyond them to trademark FU2 just to be obnoxious. So WE did it. And really, the FU2 came about at the request of customers, and the idea was based on the F.U. chip, so it kind of came full circle. I think it's just funny, and it makes me laugh. You can hear the smile in our callers' voices when they say it. We've gotten such positive feedback from it, we just knew it was the right way to go!

right on that answers my question i just submitted an order for the 6 pos chip and now i know i can just upgrade for the diffrence in a couple months thats great you guys are doin somethin awesome with this chip ima have to talk about this on the powerstroke forum

Hey, Tommy! (Make sure you jump in the Military thread in the Conversation Pit!) Processed your order today and your chip should ship when Bill gets back in town.

As for the forums, we've talked a bit about it on PSN and PS.org. Getting quite a bit of traffic from those two sites where we're sponsors. Bill's been tuning for almost a dozen years, but being at Edge and out of the forum loop for almost four years has made it tough to get his foot back in the door -- on the forums, that is. People who have been in this industry since way back know who Bill is, and that's helped a lot. In fact, I spoke with a customer today that has been running one of our chips that we manufactured and sold nine years ago! Good to know that we made a product that lasts!

We actually just did a chip for someone who had been looking for Bill for a few years after speaking with another one of our customers in NC. This guy said that Bill's name kept coming up in various places over the years. Also just did a chip for someone who was going to get one of "Bill's chips" (as everyone called them when we owned Diesel Power) several years ago; he was just saving the money as I recall. By the time he saved, Edge had snatched Bill up, and we were in Utah! This customer bought a tuner from another company in the interim but just sold it so that he could get chip from us. Very funny how things sometimes come around full circle.

The best advertising in this field is by word of mouth on the forums. We always appreciate it when our customers post after receiving their products, so if you're so inclined, we'd love for you to talk about it on the powerstroke forums.
