What type of oil do you use?

Wonder who uses full synthetic, a syn blend or just straight dino oil.

ChuckD Wed, November 4th, 2009 05:09 PM

Depends on my vehicle. In the truck its Dino, in the bike its synthetic.

F-127 Wed, November 4th, 2009 05:22 PM

I'm running Shell Rotella 5W-40 Synthetic in my 95 PSD. That combined with a gear reduction starter has almost eliminated my cold start worries in MN.

Peroni Wed, November 4th, 2009 06:43 PM

Schaeffer 7000 series 15-40 in the truck, 9000 series 5-40 in the plow tractor.

cleatus12r Thu, November 12th, 2009 07:28 AM

Depends, Lars.

Powerstroke:

Winter (Oct-Apr) I run Valvoline 5/40 synthetic.

http://www.valvoline-technology.com/...c%20Diesel.jpg
Summer (Rest of the year) I run Valvoline 15/40 Dinosaur Flesh.
http://media.ruralking.com/image.php...0430&nsize=300

Two cars: 91 Cutlass Calais/92 Subaru Loyale

Year round Napa (Valvoline) 5/30 Dino with top-offs between oil changes of whatever I can find around the shop for the oil-burning Subaru. It goes through a quart every 500 miles or so.

Motorcycle:

Valvoline 10/40 bike stuff....Dinosaur.

I'll vote for Dino oil because I use more of it.

88Racing Thu, November 12th, 2009 08:24 AM

This poll is multiple choice so if you run more than one type throughout your multiple vehicles you can select which choices you want to vote for.
Example: If you have 3 vehicles and run all three types, then pick all three types. Or if your doing winter/summer type switches, then pick both.
Multiple choice poll, pick as many as you like but you only can have one shot at voting on it.

04FX4 Mon, November 23rd, 2009 09:55 PM

I always had my oil changed at my Ford dealer. I then switched to Mobil1 full synthetic. After 1500kms yes 1500 my truck started to leak a large amount of oil from the pan area. I have now switched back to Ford 5W-20.

Power Hungry Sat, December 5th, 2009 01:51 AM

Because of all the problems with the Cam Phasers and oil related issues, Ford does my oil changes on my 5.4L.
