Will FICM reprogramming Help my situation?

I am having a running issue with my truck and have been reading and researching. General consesus on the ford-trucks.com forum is I need a reflash. I took it to the ford dealer (which i hate) and they said they reflashed it but I know they did not. They only had the truck 15 min. and charged me 86 bucks. The TSB's I have read seem to indicate reprogramming the FICM and I am wondering if PHP tunes would help to cure my cold dirvability issues. When cold the truck will have a "miss" and lack of power going down the road, it will also surge and buck when you try and accelerate when the truck is in OD. The trans will hunt and rev high probably due to lack of power. The truck is an 03 with VXAP2N2 strategy and 220K miles. The FICM was replaced last year. AE indicates proper voltage and pressures. The SCT makes the symptoms less apparent than in stock mode. Thanks in advanced.

I am not a diesel guy by any means, but I have read through the forum quite a bit, and from what I have seen if you go to a different strategy provided by php you will lose a lot, if not all, of your drivability and cold weather issues. Call PHP and wait on others to respond just to make sure I am correct. :)

What you're describing seems to be very similar to what many people have used Rev-X for, and with great success. Internally, there is a spool valve that moves only .017" to operate the injector. These valves can sometimes not move like they are supposed with colder weather and higher miles. Rev-X does an incredible job at helping the spool valve movement return to normal, but it can't fix a mechanical failure.

I know that your strategy is one that a roll back will probably be suggested for, if you so decide to consider that as well. Here's what I'd probably suggest, ECM/TCM rollback, FICM programming(not sure about whether to do inductive heating for your area), and Rev-X oil additive.

ficm strat

trust me just order a new gryphon then you own it and pay bill 4 the programming it would be the quickest and if you need to do some changes well you have the programer

more than likly your ficm is not a compatible program with your pcm

an 04 original rollback ??? this will depend on your build date and the sticker number on your pcm

ficm = AMZ2AL09.PHF

trans = TQBD1N6.PHF <--- includes the original tow haul that came factory>

pcm = VXBC1NZ.PHF <--- includes pilot injection as came with factory>

all these files can be downloaded at DSFM File Download

but bill has them on his server and runs your computer with remote desktop and programs the gryphon in different modes to program your trucks different modules
