203*F thermostat

I have seen the claims for the 203*F thermostat swap for the PSD's but I am wondering if it really makes any difference at all on the vehicle performance as everything on the PSD is dependant on Engine Oil Temp not on coolant temp so changing from 195* to 203* would not see like it should make a real difference...

The hotter the coolant, the hotter the oil.

Anyway, to get to the point, there is no reason to change it.

Save your $$$.

that was my thinking too.... 8*F is not gonna change a whole lot

Heater might be a tadd better.

cleatus12r Thu, January 28th, 2010 09:36 PM

Oh gawd....My heater already cooks me at temps. near -20F. It's hard to get comfortable because I'm either cooking or freezing. There is no in-between with this truck.

I suppose at the North Pole though....:cheesy smile:

I had considered it, but don't think it will do much as far as the heater goes. Guess if mine ever goes out then it would be worth a try.

203 Thermo

I have it from dieselsite and it has been installed since April and I can't tell a difference.:shrug:

wanna make a bet if I asked this same question over on the PSD forums I would get people swearing up and down they get better MPG, more HP, 30 second warm up ..... etc...:smiley_roll1:

Sucks how information gets repeated over and over regardless if it true or not. One guy believed the hype and swore by it, so now its just common knowledge.

But seriously Dieselsite has very high quality products! I recently purchased a few products from them and I am extremely impressed! Very professional business to boot.

I installed one last march I couldn't tell much if any improvement in performance. The biggest difference was the heater and less black smoke when I really layed in it. Although even with out a manuel gauge I think my old stat was opening to soon even for a 195. Reason being my heater wasn't the greatest and my oil temp would never get over 160 unless I was running 80+ down interstate for awhile and then might hit 165. I do think I gained a tenth or two in mileage but could have been a fluck.
