custom tune with no programmer?

Hello,

I have a 2006 F150 XLT 5.4, I don't know how to find what gear settings I have
I recently put a K&N air intake and Magnaflow exhaust

I'd like to know if it's possible just to "flash" the truck with a custom tune without having to buy the programmer

reason why I am asking is for few reasons:
leaving the programmer in the truck, someone will break in no time seeing it
$400.. well I don't really mind seeing real time the engine gauges

is it possible? how can I load a customer tune without a programmer?

You have to have some kind of programmer to load and unload the custom tune.

Look into the SCT programmers. They are not a thief magnet because they don't mount on the dash. You plug it in to program, after that you could leave it in your garage, which I do not recommend. I would keep it in the glove box or under a seat.

which programmer in order would you recommend me to get and also should I buy it from manufacturer and then unlock it or get it from php directly?

I want an efficient one :)

I've always been a huge proponent of their monochrome Gryphon. SCT is also a proven unit. I suggested the SCT programmer because it does not have the features to be dash mounted since, as you say, it runs the risk of being stolen. The Gryphons all have digital gauges being utilized in their primary design but does not require them to be used as such. My personal ideology is don't buy something and not use it. That is why I suggested the SCT. Now, I do know that the monochrome gryphons, and quite possibly the CS, can sit on the dash without the fancy pod so they can be easily unplugged and hidden. When I first got my programmer that is how I had it set up.

Buying from PHP will be best because your overall price will be lower. The tunes will be the same.

I was worried at first too of my truck being broken into with having the Gryphon mounted... but your average joe won't know what that is anyways... and unless they are looking into the driver window to see what's in it, it isn't very noticeable since it blends in so well with the dash. But, I always have tinted windows... so they really have to have hands on window peaking in to see anything... but all of our trucks have an alarm, so no worries right?

Or you could just go this route and mount it in the ashtray....
