Funny Gotts mod

Funny thing today, I been researching getting a tunes for my '08 expedition, and adding a CAI at the same time to match everything up with the exhaust I already have.
Learning about the Gotts mod, and all people been saying about it, I decided to go that route. With my shopping list ready, and just before going to the hardware store, I figured I better look under the hood to make sure I'm familiar with everything....good thing I did, because this expy is not even close to all the Gotts mods I been reading...LOL!
I did manage to remove a piece from the box to the inside fender, which opened up a big air inlet. Not sure if I want to persue taking off the end and putting a 3" tube to extend back into the fender.
I figure if I drop in a K&N filter to the factory box, and have the opening bigger, then it meets the purpose of CAI kits, and the Gotts mod. Less restricted air, large air filter area and cool air from the fender.......
Will try to load some pictures, if they are not here, then I don't know how to load them....

Glad to have you here.
What year is your expy? 2006?
Those pictures you took, look very familiar. Like the new 09 f150 engine bay.
I haven't seen any Gotts mods for that yet.
By the way you may be able to research the 4.6L.
Lots of questions not for sure in what order I want to ask them.

I wonder if the "armadillo-like" flex metal tubing would work to replace that snorkel? Looks like it might, and, if not, it appears the opening into the filter box is close enough to the fender that you could just leave the snorkel off.
