Its on pretty much every day. I like to know whats going on around me.
I know where just about all of the stations in the county are. If I am right next to one when a call goes out, I'm not going to do anything. But if a call goes out near me, and I know that the next in unit is going to be a while..... I have a fully stocked bag in my back seat - depending on the call. I'm not gonna go jump in on a "headache"
or "sick person"
... but if someone is coding down the street
and the next in engine or ambulance is 10 minutes out... You bet your *** I'm gonna go crack some ribs.
But actually... I've only ever jumped one call.. and I was the RP. The scanner didnt have anything to do with it.
