Believe it or not, the ATS and Banks "Sidewinder" turbo'd IDI trucks would outpull a stock 1st gen. Powerstroke in the lower RPM ranges due to the higher compression ratio. It certainly is surprising how much difference it makes 'downgrading' to 17.5:1 compression ratio of the PSD vs. 21:1 of the IDI when there isn't any boost involved.
