Hey from Kansas City
Hi all. Just got a 06 F-150 Supercrew 4x4. The world of computer controlled engines and tune-ups is all new to me. Old iron with carburetors has been my world for 30+ years. I’ve been learning a lot in the forums and wish I had not just bought a new camera so I could afford a Gryphon…….. maybe next month? This isn’t my first Ford, I’ve had several 65 mustangs, and a 73 F-250 4x4. I will admit my blood has always run blue. I look forward to all this forum has to offer. For what it’s worth I did once build and tune a 289 that was in a Griffin.

Hi there Dave! We've got a lot of family in the KC area -- are you on the Kansas or Missouri side? How'd you find out about the forum? It doesn't matter, really -- we're just glad you found us!

Welcome to the forum! Great to have someone on here (besides Bill and me) who remembers the days before "drive-by-wire".
When I first got my f150 (I bought it used in a "private sale") and opened the hood to REALLY look at the engine, I was sure something had been left out. No distributor, no plug wires, no throttle linkage...., how the heck did the thing even run? And THEN I learned there was no speedometer cable, no actual coolant sensor, good grief! I thought I was doomed to take the darned thing back to the dealer for every little problem. However, I found the f150 forums and learned a bunch from them (and got flamed a few times too over there) so now I feel better about this machine. We're an easy going bunch on this forum and you won't believe how much better your truck will drive once it's been tuned with a Gryphon. Save your pennies! - Jack

Hey Corey, I'm on the Misery side. I found out about PHP from the F150 forum. There’s a lot of good info there, but Jack is right….there are one or two cranky people lurking around, but hey we all have our bad days.

I was born in Moberly -- halfway between KC and St. Louis. My sister and her kids live in Independence -- and we may be doing a live tuning event in IA -- so we may be out your way in 2009.

Dave,
Glad to have you aboard! Like you, I spent a number of years "on the wrench" with plenty 'o carbs and distributors to toy with. (Anyone remember the "leaky" Ford ignition modules with the Blue and Black grommets? ) We may start an area where we can just BS about all the old cars and trucks we've worked on and maybe even offer a few tips on how to rebuild a Rochester C4 or how to diagnose a failing HEI ignition module. Catch ya 'round the engine stand! (A little something to wet your whistle) &

Cool. Let me know when you might be around and I'll buy you all an ice tea. Plus I would love to pick Bill's brain.
