Question HARD shift when passing

Not sure if this is normal or if I should be concerned.

Was heading down a two lane doing 60-65 and went to pass someone. Mashed the gas pedal and my truck dropped down to 2nd for a brief second, high RPMs, and then to 3rd. The transmission shift felt VERY hard, not firm but hard. That normal or should I be concerned?

try it again, you may have been at just the awkward speed to make it think 2nd was okay to go to.... how fast were you going?

Yeah, tried it 4 or 5 times in the hour that I was on the road. Same results. Was running about 60 when I'd drop the hammer.

Maybe that's the 15 rwhp you are feeling from the ud pulleys?

You could go into the gryphon and change firmness setting if you wanted to? Or even the rpm shift point?

Lars

Btw nice specs w/ vids+sounds

A+

I love the shift firmness on normal shifts, it's the downshift from locked 4th to 2nd that's such a firm, hard shift. I hate to mess with the shift points too, other than this one instance, I LOVE everything about the Gryphon! Maybe Bill can chime in when he takes a break from the insanity.

OH and thanks for noticing and commenting on my sig

What we might do is:

1) Address the Shift Torque reduction on the 4-2 and 3-2 shifts to soften then up a bit.
2) Lower the 3-2 shift point at WOT to eliminate going form 4 to 2 on the downshift.

One or both of those should fix the issue.

Sweet, that something I can do, or do you need to do Bill? If you need to do it, DO NOT rush. I know you have a lot of catching up to do and a lot of other anxious customers. Thanks!

OH, and as a side note, I'm mainly just concerned that it's not "right." Possibly going to cause damage if repeated. If that's not the case, I'm good with it as-is!

I can't say if it's hurting something or not, so I'd just rather not take that chance... ya know? If it's not right, it's not right.

The shift points you can handle. The torque reduction I need to handle.

I'll give you a shout as soon as it's done.
