Default Painting the Gryphon pod

Hey guys just wondering if anyone has changed the color of the pod for the Gryphon? My interior is a grey color and the pod is black. Is there any way to just paint it? I'm assuming there's more to it than just taking a spray can to the thing.

Anyone done this?

I'd be VERY careful! I think you should probably open the case and remove all the contents to do it. But, this MAY void your warranty. I know I would not attempt to "mask off" the buttons and screen to try to paint it with the contents installed though.

Possibly Bill or Corey will give you some advice.

Are you talking about the pod the gryphon sits in or the actual case the electronics are housed in? If its the case I wouldn't touch it. If its the gauge pod there is a thread out here some where about painting it and where the best place is to get the color matched. Ford's paint codes apply to mostly exterior apps. So you might have bring some trim with you to get it matched. Make sure the paint is rated for plastics. Or you can order a gauge pod from php in gray.

Well DUH! He DID say "pod", didn't he? When I saw "black", all I could think of was the Gryphon case.

I suppose you have an earlier model Gryphon?

The pod can be painted easily with any spray paint suitable for plastics. All you need to do IS "take a spray can to the thing"! Matching the color though means you're going to have to follow the advice Lars gave you.

Sorry the confusion guys, I re-read my post and it does sound a bit confusing.

Had I known I could order a grey Pod I would've done that...no biggie though. I will go to the auto parts store and find me some grey and go to town on the pod!

Thanks for the info!

Edgar, I think you have an older vehicle (pre 2004?). If so, the pods were always black and I don't think you CAN get a gray one.
