The Conversation Pit
This is where EVERYTHING else goes. No subject is too mundane. How's the weather in your area? Did your kid cut his first tooth? Really, what do you think about the President? And don't get me started on Cummins and Duramaxes. Have at it!

The benefit of training your own that most people dont see is the difference in loyalty. A horse that you trained is more loyal because they recognize the time you put in working with them. A trainer trained horse is social, still loyal just not in the same way. Most people dont look close enough to see it though.

Sorry to hear that. I can definitely say that I know the feeling, not that it is a good thing, but I feel for you. About 7-8 years ago, my wife lost her mare that she had been riding pretty much since she was born. There was a loyalty and trust between those two that you don't see in but maybe 1/10,000 of a percent of horse (okay well maybe a little better odds then that), but they grew up together and that mare did anything. She was a great all around horse and sure footed, plush she was short which was great when you get in the brush. My wife gamed a little before we met, but she was great on cows...ranching, cutting, penning, roping...I had them follow me down a sit back back and enjoy the slide bluff (not quite Man From Snowy River, but one that every time you could get stopped, you did your best to reset the saddle before doing it again) while pushing cows, and they never missed a beat.

Anyways, enough said. Once again, my condolences in your loss and I hope the youngster works out for you.
