Default goin' custom

Hello all, i've had an evo for a few years now on lvl 3 but fordf150.net has me convinced i need a cs. A few questions before proceeding - Does an intake spacer affect a custom tune at all or should i just keep that waste of money as my little secret? Also, as far as future mods, i had read that a larger TB may decrease low rpm performance. Don't know if a larger MAF works similarly. Is this true, and do custom tunes correct this to make gains? Thanks for any input.

The TB Spacer doesn't really affect the tuning... unless it's like 4"+ long. No need to concern yourself about that. As for the MAF Sensor and Throttle Body, the stock units flow all the air the engine can handle. If you were going forced induction then you may have a valid need to change them, but on a stock engine it would most like just be a waste of money. We can tune to correct for any MAF Sensor offsets, but you won't see any noticeable gain from changing the MAF Sensor.

Take care.

Thanks Bill for the quick reply. One more question, can the CS compensate for larger tires on my 98 with mechanical odometer? (the evo can't)

Not with a mechanical Odo. Those require an actual modification to the speed sensor signal. Check here for more info...

Bill, it's nice to hear a trustworthy opinion. I have been learning that some of the first mods i made to my truck years ago were not necessarily smart investments. I have bosch platinum +4 plugs and accel coil packs. I will most likely change back to motorcraft plugs in the next 10k miles, since most dislike the bosch on the tritons. Some on the other forums are insisting that these two items are actually putting my engine in jeopardy. Is it that bad or should i swith back asap? Honestly i never noticed any real difference after installing those items. Perhaps it is affecting mileage?

Motorcraft, denso, ngk run the best for plugs in these motors the bosch can actuallay come apart sending pieces every where in the cylinders ....for the coil packs motorcraft is also recommended .....there are no extra benefits running performance coils other than headaches increase!
