The fans on 07+ are now electronically controlled.
So if its under warranty get it in and have them take a look at it.
Remember to put your truck back to stock and remove gryphon from truck.
Good catch, Lars! I'd totally forgotten that small fact (or maybe I thought it changed with 08's).

It maybe in correlation to the head change also.
So if you have black cop boots on the spark plugs you may have an old school fan. But if you have the brown cop boots aka revised heads you will have the electronically controlled fan.
The jury is still out because I'm still researching this correlation.

No warranty left on my 07. After "running too hot" session number 2, I called my local dealer and asked if they had a fan clutch. Of course, they did not, but when the parts guy came back saying it was $323. FWIW, NAPA sells a replacement for$ 400. I knew the good old days of simple fan clutches were over.

I'm on my own with this one. I'll be looking at the electrical side of the fan speed sensor this weekend (if it warms up enough). But I find it very interesting that I get hot both with or without my plow on. But I only get codes when the plow is on. These 2 codes P0483 and P0528 don't trigger the CEL. So, I'm thinking they probably showed up last winter while plowing too. I didn't have a Gryphon then.

I'm going to try plowing with the tow tune and stock tunes next time it snows. Just to see if the codes return. (all that's needed is a few miles of driving with the plow on to bring them back).

Thanks for your suggestions.

For that kind of money you could go e-fans.
Troyer sells a kit, at a good price too.
The only problem is that the one code for the fan will still be there if the efans are installed.
Just a thought.

Thanks. Looks like I can get the fan clutch at an online dealer for a little under 200. I've been contemplating replacing this truck anyways, so this may just be the motivation I need. But then again, no payment is kind of nice too.
