Default Canned Tune Question

my gryphon gets here on thursday. Im planning on running the 87 tow tune until my custom tunes are done. Has anyone ran the 87 tow tune on the 04-08 F150 5.4 with a CAI installed on the truck? I understand not everyone here is a fan of CAIs but has anyone ran this canned tune with one on the truck?

I did on an 01 and it didn't have any problems. I also did on an 05 with the gott's mod and I didn't have any problems. You should be fine with the CAI and the tow tune, that is what is usually recommended.

Because of a possible "lean running" problem, if you have a 2004 or 2005 truck, you're better off not using the CAI. Using the stock intake or the "Gotts Mod" intake is a much safer (and probably more productive route). The 87 tow tune is a very good all-around tune, and it's what I used until I got my custom tunes.

Also to add to what Jack said, the tow tune is designed to run a little richer which will help offset the lean effect caused by the CAI.
