Default Chipping a 6 speed manual 7.3?

Hi,

I was wondering if you could tell me what sort of power the stock clutch on a 2000 ford f250 with 7.3 can handle? I want to order a chip for both towing and for some fun unloaded. I will upgrade the clutch if necessary but wanted to find out what you thought it might handle if it is in good shape.

Also, im assuming my engine has forged rods since its a 2000. So that would mean it would handle the 140 HP tune? Or it it worth just getting the next lower HP tune? I do not want to lose the reliability of my engine. This would be something id play with once the clutch has been upgraded.

Do your HP ratings represent rear wheel power gains or crank HP? What sort of torque numbers can I expect out of your:

40 HP tow
65 HP tow
85 HP tow
100 HP performance
140 HP extreme

Thanks

Rear wheel gains. Next to your oil filter is an inspection hole plug. Take it out and look at the rod end. If you have a bolt then its PMR if its a stud and nut then its forged. In laymans terms expect 2 ft lbs for every 1 hp. Might be a little higher or little lower on they dyno.

I have a 1999 F550 4x4 ZF6 with one of PHP's Phoenix chips installed.
Very happy with the way it worked out.
I say go for it.

PHP is generally regarded on the other forums as having the best tunes for a 6 speed. I think you can most likely go with whatever tunes you want. Man, I wish I had a hand-shaker!
