Default Smog

Hard to believe I have driven this truck for 2 years now lol. Anyways I have to smog it this time around. Do I leave the gryphon on my level 1 performance tune. Or should I return it to stock? Thanks for the help Cody.

I would just leave it alone.

If you do change back to stock, you will throw a p1000 code and the testers will see that and tell you to get your problem fixed and retest.
What you really have to do to get rid of the code is do a "drive cycle" procedure to get rid of the p1000 code. That all depends on how much you drive it and how you drive it. That drive cycle procedure could take a week or even a month for an average driver.
Lots of others have passed with custom tunes and you should too.
Just remember to take the gryphon off the dash and cord out of the port.
Check the fuse for the cigarette lighter before and after testing also. This fuse powers the obdII port also.

X2! DO NOT set your PCM back to stock before a smog test!

The "When to return to stock" question is covered in this Q&A in the f150Online forum: http://www.f150online.com/forums/chi...unes-read.html

Read through the whole thing. It may answer some other questions you have at the back of your mind.

Well I hope you passed?
What's one of those tests worth?
Just curious.

I passed with flying colors and got compliments on my truck from just about everyone. Cost was $25 for the smog and $466 to register it.

Cool - I've not yet heard of ONE smog test failure caused by leaving the tune in place. The only failures I've seen are when people return the tune to stock.
