What he wants to know is, if he does have a functioning MAF, is there a way to trick the PCM into thinking that the EGR has not been tampered with.

The answer is no, there is no way to trick it without a custom tune or modified stock tune to stop the ECM setting off a EGR code.

If this truck has a MAF sensor, other than a custom tune is there a way to avoid the CEL coming on?

No, you will need a custom tune or a modified stock tune.

I may just get a Gryphon CS for now, get the FICM Atlas 40 later as funds replenish.

I would start out with the studs. . . Any significant change to horsepower is going to put you on the fast track to head studs anyhow. . . All the damage they cause, is the expensive part. Assuming you running the 6.0L. . . .
