Default bought a used edge, didn't know it came with gryphon. Have Issues.

Hi guys, I'm brand new to the forums and have read as much as I can on the gryphon. I have other chips in other trucks, but I just recently bought a 2004 F-150 5.4 8 truck. I love it.

Anywho, I bought a used Gryphon from a friend for an incredible steal. I plugged it in and the splash screen of a gryphon showed up. Cool! Anyways, I didn't want to re-program it just yet, as I just wanted to drive around and read the guages.

So, I put it on Level3 (91 oct) and when it gets to 100% of reading the PCM it reads "Error code f1 - this vehicle calibration is not yet supported. Check for updates, and call tech support if your version is current." I read the manual it came with it which talks about the 0xf1 solution. I have tried that method verbatim about 2 times and re-program it to level3. No luck - still same error.

Next, I take the Gryphon and plug it in to the PC, and download Pegasus software. It recognizes, and I click on update Gryphon software. It updates and restarts the program. Next I update the device - it found the newest update and calibration update and it started downloading. It got to rewriting and then it go to the screen that said something such as "preparing Gryphon"...and then it shows that progress screen going and back and forth - and then - it says that there is a error! And that the update failed! I have no idea why it failed. Didn't unplug it, etc.

It says to un-plug the Gryphon and plug it back in - I do that, and now it comes up with the screen that says "Unable to detect Gryphon version, The Gryphon may be in run mode, is currently set as a stock writer, or the memory is corrupted."

WEIRD! I plug the device back into the truck and now the gryphon lights up with a green light, and nothing more! no text, no contrast, just the lcd illumination.

I take it out and plug it back into the PC and load up Gryphon and it can load up at the bottom of the screen, "COM4 - Connected Type2 - Port Idle - 2K/NT/XP (I'm running Win7-32bit btw) - HD S/N: A49C4699 - EEF2400 - S/N: 00003731"

Oh, and I was able to write the truck hex's number before the screen went blank and just illuminates green. Let me know if you need that if it helps.

I will call tomorrow morning but maybe someone can get me any idea of what's going on or help me make sense of what's going on!

Again, I'm a uber-noob when it comes to Gryphon,

Thanks a bunch guys!

I just left a note for Bill. You aren't the only one having this problem.
