Default S&B CAI

Thought I'd rate my CAI and update it in a few days after the filter swap.

I purchased an S&B CAI for my 04 4.6L back in 05 (back before the price hike, got it for $135 + shipping). I've loved it no doubt ever since I first put it on. I'd get into the fuel economy, performance gains like "other" forums everyone boasts or bashes on, but I'm going to cover that more in another more lengthy post.

The only thing I'd have to say I don't like about it is the "wet" filter. I'm contemplating swapping out for a Green Filter ( www.greenfilterusa.com ) per Bill's recommendation, I like that they offer in a cotton filter, rather than the gauze type. I'm looking into dry filters also. I'll let you know what I swap out for when and if, not sure anyone makes a "drop in" for the S&B intake kit, at least not looking at their tech specs.

Yeah bad news, Green Filters doesn't make a "drop in" that will fit in my S&B kit. Anyone finds anything let me know. Thanks!

Do you still have the model # from the kit or any spec info?

Look for a filter part #, and may be there is a cross ref chart somewhere out there.

If that way can't be done then get the tape measure out get the measurements and go into specs of the filter companies you want to buy from. Most filter companies have spec sheets.

Try AEM or any other dry type air filter.

I know that "wet" type filters can screw up MAF's.

Yeah, I couldn't get a cross reference on the part number so I took the dimensions down.

Which are as follows:

Inlet Dia: 7 3/16"
Length: 7"
Base Dia: 11 3/4"
Top Dia: 4 3/4"

Everyone seems to cap off at the 6" Inlet Diameter on their products. Sigh.

Tried some of my resources too. Not looking promising S+B might have a lock on this one.

Yeah, that's what I'd gathered from my searching. Not a huge ordeal.
