Default About the Custom tunes?

I just wanted to inquire about the custom tunes, just a little bit
confused as to how this all works. I'm currently new to this and
never really did anything to my other auto. Now I ordered custom
tunes for my truck due to the fact that everyone says that the 04
f150's run lean from factory and once an aftermarket CAI is installed
it is a compounded problem. Now I was under the impression that
once you ordered the gryphon w/ custom tunes once you've received
the item your custom tunes would be there also. Now from what I've
been reading it doesn't work like that.

I just wanted to clear up the process. This is what I think is going to
happen so far:
1) I receive the gryphon and it only has the canned tunes.
2) I plug in the gryphon into my truck and then go through the tuner
to find my hex code.
3) After I submit my hex code, that's when the process to write my tunes
begin.
4) Where I posted my hex code is where I'll receive notification that
my custom tunes are ready.

Now I'm not sure that's correct, but that's what it seems like is going
to happen from what I've read. Now I just had a few questions. How
do I plug in the custom tunes into the gryphon? Is there instructions
within the package with the programmer? How long does it take to
receive the tunes? Now I ordered 2 custom tunes, do I have a choice
on which stock tune I can keep?

Thanks for the help and I'm very excited about the tuner and hope you
guys have a great day. Thanks again.

First, which gryphon did you get?

The monochrome gryphon uses a PHP program called pegasus, it can be downloaded from the PHP website and might also come on a CD with the programmer. The CS and CTS still use the Edge software Fusion.

The process you have is pretty close, I'll clarify though.
For the monochrome gryphon you get the programmer, get your hex code, send in your hex code then wait until they write the tune. Then when they tell you it is done you use Pegasus to load the custom tune on the programmer.

For the CS and CTS you get the programmer, get and send your hex code, you get a notification to update your programmer, after you update your programmer you reply that is is updated, PHP puts the tune on Edge's Fusion server where you do another update. After that you keep the programmer in your truck.

As for which tunes you replace and which ones you get you'll have to look at your invoice. 87 custom performance tunes usually replace the level 1 transmission tune because that tune is rather useless for anything besides basic diagnostics. A custom tow tune usually replaces the canned tow tune because you really only need one tow tune on a gas truck.

Now for time, I can't say. That depends on how crazy it is in the office. I know back when I ordered mine I just forgot about the custom tune that I ordered so the wait wouldn't seem long...it actually worked very well and was a nice little surprise.

Oh I got the Gryphon PHP. So I can even get Pegasus on the site itself?
Nice, I'll go search for it. Thanks for the clarification bro. I like that color
on your truck.

Actually since I've tried installing pegasus onto my computer it has
failed on all counts. I think I'll just wait for the tuner, I think it might
have the program with it.

Do not plug the programmer in until you have Pegasus successfully installed.

What version of Windows do you have?

Yeah, I know but doesn't the program come in the package with like a disk?
I have Vista Home Premium atm. And everytime I tried to install it, it was sa-
ying it couldn't find a file or it source and always gave me error codes. And
the install manual on the site looked too different from what I was getting.

you may have to go into the administration settings and disable the security for it to load correctly.....

Vista is not the best but hey its all you got...

I guess I'll just try it again then after I get the the tuner. I was wondering, do I need
another tune to accommodate an E.Fan?
