Default OBS towing EGT temps

I took the toy hauler out this weekend LOADED to the max. Two quads in the trailer 100 gal h20, and necessities(beer), two smaller quads in the truck and 5 people in the truck. The trailer was probably 10000# alone. My egt sensor is in the manifold, driving on flat, straight road at 60, it would read 1000-1200*. What temps do you OBS'ers see, and what is safe?

Thats about normal. When you see it start creeping over 1200 drop a gear and get the rpms up.

I tried that but it seemed to make the temps climb.

Was that in OD?

Temp's seem high to me, any headwind or a slight grade and you will be too hot. 1200ish is about the max you want to run for extended periods.

My SD in stock form (injectors) would normally run around 700-900 deg. loaded with about the same weight and with a slide-in camper in the back in OD. Lock out the OD and temps would drop to sub 700 deg. range.

Have you checked for boost/ exhaust leaks?

Might be a good candidate for an IC or some water.

I have seen the banks kit(IC). Is that a good kit or is there a better one out there? Don't you need an IC to run water? That would be cheaper than an IC.

You can run water without a IC. Do a search on PSN for a DIY IC.
I am sure it can be done for MUCH less than Banks wants for their kit.

What are your mods?

There must be more going on here to cause your EGT issues.

IC or water might be a band-aid for a underlying issue.

3"dp, 4" dumped in front of rear wheel no cat or muff, 6637 dyi, idm mod, adrenaline, fpr shim( california ), Phoenix w/ 45 heavy tow, 80 perf, lope, whisper, fuel sipper. Stock turbo and sticks. On another forum someone said the ebpv could be sticking. How would you check that? The truck seems to be running great, just a little hot towing.

Loosened the downpipe to see the ebpv, it was exactly in the center of the housing, not closed at all. So I'm guessing that is not it.
