How to find .hex code

I bought a new, off the shelf Evolution and have downloaded the Pegasus software. I plugged in the programmer to the laptop, screen went red, then green and was able to see the serial number on the bottom of the screen. Here's where I'm stuck. I'm sure it's probably something very simple I've missed, but regardless, I've missed it. Where do I find the .hex code? I've tried pressing menu (to get me to diagnostics), but the screen remains blank. Please help!
