Default ECM: not located!!!

where did it go!?!?!? lol

Greetings everyone... just got my gryphon in the mail, went to hook it up and where it should give me a Hex code it tells me that the ECM could not be located... i checked the connection with the OBD port and unhooked everything waited my 5 seconds, tried again and still the same thing. I'm sure i'm doing something wrong but I just cannot figure it out. I've read the book several times and while my comprehension level isn't the best, i feel like it's fairly simple.

hook gryphon to cable
turn key on
plug in to obdII port

acknowledge the caution/warning (no more of those)
and it does not find the ECM, or give me a hex code... what am i missing??

Default Are you getting instructions on the screen?

If I remember correctly, after I plugged mine in, it told me to turn the key off and then told me to turn it back on. I have plugged and unplugged mine several times and I think I've gotten that message. When I do I just unplug OBDII plug and plug it back in. That seems to work. Also, I've turned the switch off and back on.

I have gotten that message when I plug it in without having the key on. I found mine works best if I have the truck on (not started) and then plug it in.

Hope this helps. Once you get it going you will never want to run stock again... except when you are teaching a younger person to drive...

What Circuit was trying to tell you, 4x4billy, is that you MUST have the ignition key in the ON position (radio plays, stuff works, etc - but engine off) BEFORE you plug the Gryphon in. Is that the way things were when you connected it?

What he said.

...and with that I will leave it in Jack's capable hands.

Ok, sigh - I'm drawing a total blank. I've been through my "file" of "fixes" and nothing looks like this. I'll try to get Bill's attention.

Okay.... here's a quick question or two.

Quickly though, when you have a second, please fill in your user information in the forum Control Panel so we know who we're dealing with. Makes things much easier from a support standpoint.

First question - What year truck is this?

Seconds question - Does the OBDII connector have 1 wire coming out that splits into two, or does it just have 1 wire on the left side and a 4-pin connector on the right?

I'll be around in the gameroom lobby for a bit to answer quick questions.

Thanks.
