Default WOT shut down

2008 f150 stx. I have had the edge Evo cs in for 8 months without problems. I do go to Edges web site now and then and down load new files as they come up. This last time I think there was an issue. I run the evo in tow mode and at WOT after a few seconds my truck falls on its nose like its out of gas. As soon as I let up on the pedal life comes back. This does not happen in stock mode. Sound familiar anyone? no custom tunes and mileage is 57,000 on my 4.6

You need to call Edge about that. That's their baby.

Also, once they have it fixed there is no need to keep "updating" the tunes. They change the tunes from time to time, and as you have found, the changes aren't always improvements.

It sounds to me like you're hitting the Rev Limit. Try to reload your tune, and in the "Custom Options Menu", check the setting for that. It should be called something like "Max RPM" or "Rev Limit". If it's below 5500, move it up to there, but don't go any higher.

With the CS/CTS platforms, you can't adjust the WOT shift points (yet), and I suspect Edge might have them set a bit too high compared to your Rev Limit setting.

The reason you don't want to go higher than 5500 is that you can get Torque Converter ballooning above 5400. The brief period between 5400 and 5500 won't hurt anything though.

Great job on the rev lim idea. I did as you suggested and found edge had me at 4200 rpm limit. I upped it to 5500 and the truck is wonderfully powerful. Thank you very much for taking the time to help me.

You're very welcome. Sounds to me like Edge needs to make a modification to their canned programs. A rev limit of 4200 is way too low. You'd have trouble driving up a steep hill at that setting.

I've been seeing posts popping up on other forums from it happening. What were they thinking to put that out for the general public? They probably meant to set it at 5200 and were one key off and just never rechecked over everything.
