Just to add to this discussion, Stealth, over on f150Online, posted this thread: http://www.f150online.com/forums/200...whos-next.html

Looks like the injector issue might depend quite a lot on the specific dealership!

the biggest areas in which a tuner could cause damage is on diesels. Gas not so much. Thus most dealers don't really worry about tuners on gas unless they come in with pinging, trans concerns, etc.

Diesels on the other hand can have a number of problems with tuners, however with that said it all depends on how greedy one is. A gas will gain some power, but nothing compared to a tuned diesel. So with anything the more you push it the more likly you are to have problems. Diesels are just much easier to push with a tuner, unless of course you have a forced induction gas then that changes things aswell.

Any tuner leaves a foot print and not just edge, they all do. There is not a sign that says o this truck is chiped, you have to actually look for it.(not too hard to find) On a gas truck i would be less worried about a tuner vs diesel vs warranty, however thats based on a good quality tune.

Alot depends on the dealer, most who want customers try to explain that if the damage was caused by the tuner then they could have a problem. The guy with the injectors, its a problem that ford knows about and the dealer should have covered it. If however the spark plugs were covered in aluminum from excessive timing, spark knock, etc and a tuner was found, well then thats a different story.

Not all people run 93 oct on a 93 tune and create there own problems, the factory tries to make the engine " dummy " proof, but the tuner can lessen the amount of " dummy " proofing.

The best exaple could be if you lent your truck out. Lets say your truck is tuned for 93 and your bro, etc takes it to move, and puts 87 in it because you forgot to tell him and hauls/tows loads of furniture all day. In that case if you damaged something it would not be ford's fault as you intensionally took away the margin of " dummy " proofing.

The bottom line is that any tuner can leave footprints, but wether you loose warranty or not would depend upon a lot of factors. Decent dealerships are based on common sense, and actually so is ford, but just like not all dealerships use common sense neither do all owners. Its just like anything the bad ruin it for the good.
