Default What if I add something

hey Corey or Bill,

I am thinking about adding the troyer performance (unless you have a better choice) E-fans and UD pulleys.

What would i need to do to get another custom tune(s) just re-order them?

The only consideration for E-Fans and Pulleys is to raise the idle a little in order to handle the higher current draw from the fans and keep the alternator spinning fast enough to keep the charging system functional. You can handle that through the custom options on the programmer.

If you'd prefer, I can raise the idle in your files. Up to you.

Take care.

The pulleys really help, especially on the highway. Not to mention that everything spinning slower increases the life of those components.

I'm still a little torn on the fans. I guess it depends just how much the stock fan comes on, how much low speed driving you do, etc. Keep in mind though that e-fans draw quite a bit of current which puts more load on the alternator which puts more load on the engine, so I'm still dubious of any significant gains in that respect. The one thing e-fans definitely do is help increase the service life of the water pump by eliminating the weight of the fan from the pump bearings.

well you have been close enough to Seattle to know what its like.

never gets reallly THAT hot in the summer but a couple days will get to above 90 and probably a couple weeks with temps in the 80's.

winter we might get snow once, doesnt get very cold, usually low 40s to mid 50's

so i dont know if they would be used alot or not? people just say that they improve mpg

anyone know where i can get some of those pullies? 2008 f150 5.4. i think Troyer has them, but any others? i like Bill's answer to them..i do mostly highway driving, so it sounds like they should help a bit. i had a set on my old f250, 5peed 460, 1990 and had a hard time with alternators. might have been the truck or the pullies. these newer trucks are so much improved, hopefully the'll react better to pullies.

Troyer was the only place I found them when doing a quick search, but I'm sure there must be a few other places that make/carry them. I don't see any reason not to get them from Troyer though. They do look like a nice set.

I'll poke around and see if I can find any other sources. If you find any, let us know. We'd like to have it posted on here so people have options.

FWIW - The alternators have changed so much over the years that you can't even compare them anymore. Back in the '80s and early '90s, most alternators were in the 70 Amp range. Nowadays, they're in the 110 to 150 Amp range and produce power out much lower RPMs. Of course, todays vehicles consume a bit more power too, so that's always a consideration.

thank you bill...i did find some on www.lagunaspeed.com a while back, but i don't see them for the 04-08 series anymore. also would my tunes need to be "tweaked" after install?

EDIT...i did find these on that site...but only 04-05..not sure if they changed pullies for later years.

No big adjustment for pulleys. Just raise the idle about 75 RPM.

Laguna Speed show them not available for the later years. I'll poke around a bit and see if I can find any.
