Question Firmware and calibration updates??

Hello all,

It's been quite some time since I have been on here. Today I was bored so I decided to plug my Gryphon into my laptop and see if there were any updates. Well Pegasus is showing both firmware updates and calibration updates.

I have one custom tune. If I perform these updates will I loose my custom tune? I have tried just doing the firmware only update but it is telling me my calibration is not compatible with the version of firmware and to update all.

Thanks for all of your help!!

Mike

Yes, you will loose your custom tune if you update.

Mike -

Updating both firmware and calibrations WILL return your custom tune to the "canned" version. But, since you are working with a monochrome Gryphon (not a CS/CTS unit), you can easily restore your custom tune.

Just go ahead and allow the firmware and calibration updates to complete. Then, select [Updates]->[Custom File Download] (or [Updates]->[Targeted Functions] depending on the version of Pegasus you are using. That will restore your custom tune and you should be good to go.

Default Did this work?

Mike,
Did this work for you? I just plugged my Gryphon (mono) in for the first time in several months and there are several firmware and calibration updates available. Before doing anything, I hit Updates/Custom File Download and got an error, "Unable to locate a Target Instruction file. Process failed".

Bill/Corey,
What're the latest guidelines for downloading updates?

Thanks.

Yes it did work when I tried it. But now I am getting the dreaded hesitation/miss/stumble problem listed in the forum below. I still have not heard of any fix yet either. I am not sure if the updates that were performed created this problem or not. So update with your own discretion.

Bill has been preaching: "If it ain't broke, don't fix it". Sounds like good advice to me. There's really no reason to update the firmware in the Gryphon if it's working properly.

Thanks, Jack. In reading through the descriptions associated with the updates, it sounded like they corrected some known issues or made things work better. I'll hold off until Bill advises otherwise.

For the last two years, I think, the firmware updates have been very minor and have been to correct issues with certain hex codes. If an update is important for everyone, Bill will let us know.
