Default Extra Soot

When I accelerate I seem to be getting more soot than normal. I normally get alot if I step on it. A friend told me it might be my EGR sensor??????

More soot? As in more smoke?!! You should be happy!! But...more soot is also raw, not fully combusted fuel. Are you seeing the same boost numbers you usually see? Higher EGTs? Clean air filter, boost leaks, exhaust leaks? Those all could lead to excess soot. Probably not your EGR since the 7.3's dont have EGR!!

More than normal smoke means you are not getting as much air as before, or the fuel getting injected is not as atomized as it was before (not likely unless you have a CEL) .

I would check for boost leaks, pre-turbo exhaust leaks, or EBPV stuck partially shut. Also check your air filter.

And no, there is no egr system on the 7.3.

Good Luck
