Default Custom tune suggestions for upgrade!!!

Well after having the heads shaved .0015 and headers, and my CAI and lean codes constantly popping up I NEED TO UPGRADE MY EVO AND GET CUSTOM BABY!!!!! Im looking for an everyday performance tune and my question is can you pick up alot of gains the higher octane you go? I dont mind gettin 89 or 91 octane if it helps that much more. Im thinking thats all im going to need since i do not tow much and i dont see the need to get a 87 performance and a 93 performance i'd rather just get 91 or something like that! Thanks guys. Why i am here tho, if i were to get a tow tune... same question for about octane levels/gains... and will the custom tune tow be that much better than the canned since i dont tow that much?

If I were you I would»
Level 1»get a 87oct perf tune.
Level 2»leave it alone.
Level 3»get a 91oct perf tune.

When you say you don't "tow much", what does that mean? If you NEVER tow or tow loads that are under 2500#, I'd do what 88Racing says, because you'll never use the towing tune. But, if you DO tow larger weights, you'll want to load a towing tune to do so and if you're throwing lean codes with the canned tunes, you'll need a custom tow tune too.

Next, how much more does hi-test gas cost in your area vs 87 octane? Here, it's about 9% more per gallon. If I were to get an improvement in economy of over 9%, it would pay me to use the expensive stuff. That would mean I'd have to get more than a 1.4mpg increase in highway mileage to make it worthwhile. It's all simple math, and we can't do it for you, since we don't have your driving figures. What's more, we can't predict anything. You may or may not see an improvement in economy by using hi-test - most people do. But, how much improvement is up to you and your truck. With both 87 and 91 octane tunes, you'll be able to figure this out.
